CHICCO MARGAROLI
The strong and pervasive Nature of this area, in which I live, combined with my father's fascination with the world of veterinary medicine are the two sources that have influenced my artwork.
The strong and pervasive Nature of this area, in which I live, combined with my father's fascination with the world of veterinary medicine are the two sources that have influenced my artwork. The mountain-loving vet taught me to look at Nature as a litmus test, which reacts and offers answers. He taught me to treat it as it is: something different from us. To not be afraid to open it up. To always stay on my tiptoes and to be careful not to spoil it: neither the obvious Nature that I can access, nor the more secret, magical one, protected by scientific knowledge. So I have learnt to use what remains of It, never forcing it, only waiting for it, sitting on the side. Participating in the process is the Time factor, with which I am obliged to come to terms. My Alpine 'biodiversity' is vast: minerals, woods, vegetables, organs: so many are indigenous, sometimes mixed with other origins, but that makes very little difference. I always look at it with the same eyes and lead it to my own language, symbolic and conceptual at the same time.
